Body After Baby

Let me tell you first hand – this was something that was SO mentally consuming and heavy on my heart for multiple reasons. It was a literal mind fuck. How can I be so upset and feel ugly in my body that grew a healthy, beautiful baby and gave birth to the biggest blessing that I’ve ever received? Pre baby, I was in the gym daily and I honestly didn’t think that losing the weight would be this hard. However, it’s a journey and everyday is different and there are good days and bad.

Coming from a past of distorted views of eating and food, this was something that was always looming over me during pregnancy. I 10000000000000% LOVED being pregnant and the weight gain didn’t bother me too much because I KNEW I needed to grow a healthy baby. But after was a complete whirlwind… There’s already and unbelievable amount from society and social media portraying the “bounce back.” Well, let me tell you… I CALL BULLSHIT!

The pressure that is already put on women is hard enough let alone after you have a baby. Like why is it that we need to think of immediately being post baby weight so quick after birth? I’m sure that happens to some quickly but I don’t think that’s the norm.

Below are things I did and still am doing to feel confident in post baby body:

  1. Don’t try on the pre baby jeans for a hot minute – you might be disappointed and sad

  2. Don’t be afraid to buy new clothes

  3. Eat nutritious meals

  4. Drink plenty of water

  5. Get a daily walk in – fresh air does the body and brain good

  6. Talk about what you’re struggling with

  7. Be nice to your body and try to stop the negative self-talk

  8. GIVE YOURSELF SOME GRACE!!!
