Do It For You

The thing no one tells you about having a baby is the fourth trimester. When you’ve had baby, and are trying to figure out your new life and new sense of self.

You’re trying to navigate the newness all while trying to keep a clean home and go back to work all while running on minimal sleep. The combination of everything can be extremely overwhelming and difficult.

During this time frame I made a promise to myself to work hard and trust the process of my mind and body. I’m thankful I haven’t struggled with postpartum depression, but I’ve definitely had touches of postpartum anxiety. Intrusive thoughts are real and can definitely be scary.

I made a promise to myself when Maverick was born to shower every day and do my skincare routine. Something that might sound trivial or silly to others but when you’re in the thick of it dealing with a newborn those normal things you’d regularly do can fall to the wayside but I felt so great after doing something for myself every day that to me, is a necessity.

Once I got cleared to workout again I started slow and got a plan together. I was so excited to start workouts again that I might’ve pushed myself a little too quickly at the beginning. Fast forward to know, I’m back working with a trainer for 8 weeks doing mostly at home workouts and a gym day or two a week. I know my workouts and I know my meal plan and I have huge goals for myself.

If you’re looking for a sign to make a change or to do something you haven’t done before or need to prioritize yourself - this is it. Do something for YOU. Because in return you taking care of you will only benefit you and others.
